Is it fragile? Looks very delicate in photos.

The plastic is pretty sturdy but I the fibreglass ones are sturdier. They stopped making them in fibreglass because its pretty toxic to manufacture.
- they still make them: http://modernica.net…Douglas
- Modernica used to make them for HM, they just can't use the "Eames" name anymore.Douglas

I was going to bid on a a fiberglass model on ebay today.. but I walked into abc home - www.abchome.com and the chairs were 15% off.. figured Id just get it.
Fiberglass cracks but the plastic is harder to clean, they both have pro's and con's- also fiberglass models have the wire frame in black and the plastic ones come in the silver metal , which matches my decor better.Audria
- the plastic just looks really cheap while HM or Vitra still charge ridiculous prices for itdavebellechique
- a plastic shell like that costs about 5€ to produce. RIP OFFdavebellechique

I got 6 original fiberglass shells on ebay for $30, and then I bought the bases. Super cool story.
