Any recording geeks here?
I want a cheap preamp. Around 100 bucks - just to color up my god damn M Box recordings a bit.
Any suggestions?

what are you recording?

Music. All kinds of instruments. Lots of Piano, banjo, guitars, drums.

Spend a bit more and get something half-decent.
I got this one recently and the difference on quality of the recording was huge.

No specific recommendations, as i haven't used any, but sounds like you're either gonna want a Samson or an ART, for your price range.
ART has a bigger selection in that price range, and even has some that have a USB interface so you wouldn't need to go in between. Additionally, i HAVE used their stereo VLA compressor and it is very nice, so i'd trust their name more.

I´ve used this with success! It´s probably not the coolest thing around, but it´ll fit your budget.

Thanks Locust.
If I was going to spend more I would get some old ass sound board with tubes.
I just want to make what I am doing slightly better for now.

for a hundred bucks you'll have better luck with plugins. hardware at that price is pointless. or save your pennies for a manley or avalon pre.

not so much a preamp, but Ive been using the POD ux2 and it came with a bunch of VST's and it was really cheap. I had been using my friends Mbox, but it had this hum to it, so I went out, spent 150 dollars american on the POD. Its great.
