A Georgia mother was brought to tears when she watched her 5-year-old answer questions on racial attitudes and biases. But as tonight's AC360° (10 p.m. ET) reveals, the answers are not uncommon among kids.

what were his answers?

Yeah I was watching that earlier... it seemed like a rather stupid experiment though.

Wait one minute. Back the truck up. You mean to tell me that someone living in Georgia is surprised on their child's racial attitude and bias. Well La Dee Fucking Da!!! No shit!

Basically what I'm saying (in the notes over there) is that the "experiment" shows either too little or too much to make any rational conclusion. First of all, the "good child" she picked just because she thought it was the most like her... because of the format she's limited to, what else would she do besides pick the most different thing for the bad/mean child? Not to mention when you're talking about such general features and asking a child to give you an answer (presumably so you can draw all kinds of spectacular conclusions), they're probably going to answer what they think is 'right'.
I see people with gross tans and I make judgements about them. I see people with mullets and make judgements about them. The real issue is what these judgements ARE, because the stickiness is in believing that some people are 'worth' less than others.

They really should have had a black kid do it next and compare / contrast. Maybe the kid isn't thinking in terms of race, but just seeing the polar opposites in the questioning. And after she's likened one cartoon to represent her, she's just choosing the ones that are obviously the most different to represent the bad ones. The cartoons don't leave much else to choose from aside from color.

I totally agree though. The experimental analysis wasn't at all conclusive but maybe to purposely create that speculation, especially amongst parents with kids.

They are trying to get ratings.
- lowimpakt0
put it this way, you wouldn't submit those results to an academic journal
- moldero0
they dont give the kid much options, hell all the characters look the same besides skin color, and im assuming they were told "they had to pick one" if they changed the clothing, face style etc, i think this would be a more accurate test.
shame though.
