Hulu says HTML5 'doesn't yet meet all of our customers' needs'. What does this means to the: HTML5 is going to replace Flash song? Is it just the specific needs of the HULU player and DRM?

No HULU for the iPad...

They're not letting the Flash site work on the android either. It's all media company BS.
(of course, I'm assuming it can work on Flash Android.)

So, umm, what do they use for playing video on Hulu?

"Hulu's player doesn't just stream video, it also must do things like secure the content, handle reporting for advertisers, and do dozens of other things that aren't necessarily visible to the end user"

I mean on their plain old ordinary web site? If one goes there, what software plays the video in the browser?

That they chose not do to anything with HTML5 doesn't mean they aren't working on a native app:

I'm sure they had a native app ready for at least a year now...really, not that complicated at all. (How fast did ABC get their own iPad player together?) Three networks together embracing a new medium that they feel threatened by? Hulu is too scared to change their model in any way, it's a miracle the tv execs haven't axed Hulu by now.

an ipad specific hulu app. with possible subscription seems like gold to hulu and apple

they released rumors of the subscription already. Around 9 bucks to watch old shows. As long as you can watch the recent stuff for free I think that's fine. It needs to hurry up so I don't have to keep downloading for free.
