    When you're at the final asymptotic push on a project do you get easily distracted with wild (yet highly specific) ideas about non-project things? I'm 99% one with a project right now and wrapping this up is like pulling teeth. And this total distraction occurred to me:

    Meet Montgomery Clift.

    He was a famous Hollywood actor in his day, and noted as quite the looker. At the height of his fame he had a car accident that disfigured his face. After reconstructive surgery he was able to return to acting, but life was of course...different. His identity of handsomeness was shattered. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mon…

    So now you've got the background info. You're ready to listen to Craig Chester's spooky story about how the ghost Montgomery Clift has been haunting him. (This is courtesy of The Moth, a touring storytelling organization based in NYC.) Oh.. Might also be worth mentioning at this point that Mr. Clift is also a sort of gay icon.     And then of course there is Tom Cruise. Star of the "Open Your Eyes" (1997) remake "Vanilla Sky" (2001). Vanilla Sky: A movie about a looker who is disfigured in a car accident. And then I'm wondering... well... What about those rumors; that because of his spooky sci-fi culture perhaps he's forced to live in the closet? Was playing this roll—a bit of a departure from his usual fare—a way of being closer to one of his (perhaps) personal icons?

    Of course when you add up these numbers the sum is total nonsense. But this is what the brain does when it desperately needs a vacation from work. It starts dreaming while you're awake. Crazy nonsense things. I'm going to be a loads of fun as an 80-something Alzheimer's patient.
