I know this has been talked about, but is Craigslist really the best way to find rental property in NY?
- Douglas0
It might really depend what you are looking for. I know there are some good brokers that will show you great places if you've got great credit and a big budget. If you have those things and are looking in the CobbleHill/BoreumHill/CarrolGard... area, I know a broker who gets all the best places. http://www.prudentialelliman.com…
If you're looking for a share, or looking for no fee apartments, CL is probably best. Padmapper scrapes CL and plots the locations which can be helpful. http://www.padmapper.com/
Apartments and Lofts can also be helpful.
http://aptsandlofts.com/Sometimes it's good to go to the area where you are looking, and hit up the local apt rental places in that area.

are you looking for long term rental to live, or just long stay vacation?

Looking for long term, relocating with my Girlfriend and a friend, hoping for a 3 bedroom. I love the Carroll gardens area, and maybe just past the BQE, into redhook area. Columbia street-ish.
Although I am really not trying to be super picky, I just want close to a major train, in an area that is not too sketchy.- i helps to start the search once you land here. almost impossible to secure something not in person.Douglas
- no major trains in redhook though. closest is the F.Douglas
- redhook is one of nyc most notorious sketchy areas ever!!e-pill
- some parts maybe. not on vanbrunt or columbia though. pretty nice, but no transportation.Douglas
- no transportation means sketchy for a city that is known for its transportation..e-pill
- well i dont live there anymore so you would be a better judge. the area has its history.e-pill
- i do love red hook though becasue when you are there you always say..e-pill
- ..this isnt Kansas anymore and you look around and say WHERE THE FUCK AM I??e-pill
- you dont see the city.. but you see industry.. and its like where in nyc does that exist?e-pill
- BROOKLYN!!e-pill

If your looking for a company that is based on what you as a buyer need/wants and knows every building and in every neighborhood then you need to contact www.luxuryrentalsmanhattan.com or www.newconstructionmanhattan.com…...

just found out about this gem
www.nybits.comI plan on using it next year

Although Craigslist does have some listings there are much better ways to find rental apartments and apartments for sale in New York. Those in the market for an apartment for rent should check out www.luxuryrentalsmanhattan.com while those looking for an apartment for sale should check out www.newconstructionmanhattan.com…... Unlike Craigslist, both of these sites are constantly updated and feature many of the newest and best buildings Manhattan has to offer. Also, these sites feature many no fee buildings so if you don't want to pay a brokers fee you don't have to!

man... what kind of salary you have when you can pay 4k / month rent
- $125K should be no probleme-pill
- where do you get that salary as designerdigdre
- When you make 360.00 a day @ 40 hours a week it isjteore
- Fail_Read that wrong.jteore
- yea.. ugh.digdre
- $60/hr full time. Reasonable in NY if you're in a profitable profession I guess.ismith
- I think you'd need to bring in at least 200k/yr to live a comfortable 4k/month rent lifestyle.Douglas
- you could do it on less, but you'd be rent poor and not have a girlfriend, or furnish it nicely, or save money.Douglas
- haha @ no girlfriend ... where did $4k rent come into play anyways?e-pill

One (maybe two) units are available on my floor. Williamsburg, N 3rd St, between Kent/Wythe. They are renovated loft spaces in an older building. The one available now was that dude Christian from Project Runway, who just moved out. The spaces are ideal for couples as the rent is probably between $2400-$3000/month... I'm not sure the price for that unit specifically. Email me if you want the landlord contact to see it.
