Is it useable with the screen size and res?
- bored2death0
how can we decide that for you?
- Ruffian0
Sure.

Its actually not bad at all, before buying a 13" mbp I thought it might be pretty akward but because of the resolution its completely usable. Would be better on a 15+ no doubt but still completely usable. Run into an apple store and try it out?

No.
Unless you only do icon design.

3" bigger than a netbook,
so I bet you can't really use it to design,
get a second screen

works fine.
sometimes a little cramped - more so on the vertical space, but no biggie. Worth the portability imo.

definitely a bit tight and cramped but doable. I've managed to get work done on my Air with nio problem..

I'm sorry my opinion irks you, set.
In future, I'll do my best to comply with your tightly-delineated worldview.

You can but I wouldn't want to... at least not all. Get an extra monitor.

I used to have a 13" macbook, hooked up to a LCD screen most of the time. Laptop screen was usable for emergency situations when somewhere away but not for regular use.

Always found big laptops to be kind of stupid, defeating the purpose of what a laptop should be. I'd say 15" is the sweet spot if rarely plugging into a second screen, especially in the design industyr (doing more then email and office) though the 17" is just insane and far from portable.
- I just got the 17" and it's very portable. Fits in the bag I had, don't notice the weight. Maybe if you don't have arms it'd be difficult.Atkinson

- Same. I'm perfectly happy with my 17" MBP.Continuity

you can do anything if you set your mind to it

I reckon I am gonna get a 15" MBP refurbed anyone else had good experiences with a refurb machine?

Photoshop on the 13" MBP is do-able, but annoying. You're going to have to learn to love collapse/expand pallet workflow.

I use photoshop on our home 13inch MBP...
you can use it just. but if you are designing lets say a 1024 x 768 website its impossible.
A monitor is the way forward
