Im playing around with Reason and set up a virtual midi thing so i can play with my computer keyboard (2009 macbook pro) but there is like a delay between when i press the key and when the sound comes out... i read up and i think this is called latency?
also i installed a driver called asio4all and that seems to fix the delay but then there are these annoying pops n glitches in the audio... is there a solution to this and, what is this due to ? the sound card??

There's no midi latency with a computer keyboard.

so why is there a delay from when i press the keys until the sound comes out?

actually i think there is because this driver makes it a virtual midi device, otherwise u cant play with the keyboard...

midi latency is from external devices trying to synch with the computer.
sounds like your audio buffer.

With linux, you can compile a realtime kernel to deal with latency - can you do the same with OS X?
