Symbian OS Vs iPhone OS

Symbian is open source and runs on the Qt framework. iPhone OS is closed as in all things Apple, plus the Qt framework supports Lisp programming language. Thoughts?

I kinda figured Symbian would be increasingly left in the periphery of the Western/Asian mobile markets, being superceded by Linux machines, at least terms of interesting development.
It'll be around forever while people have simple phones and basic expectations, but in terms of relevancy to the QBN audience, it's not really worth discussing, is it?

the only decent alternative to iPhone OS is Android, I had a Nokia phone with Symbian that crashed every once in a while, which meant I could not even receive phone calls until I noticed the fucker was frozen and had to power cycle it
