has anyone used any web-based ftp clients that i could install on my server? any suggestions? some clients are somehow incapable of using their own ftp client.

Rumpus is excellent, lots of features, thumbnails, drop ship, etc (OSX only). $$ tho.

need more info.... usually for people who don't get FTP.... you don't install anything on your server, but make a small website with a java-applet that users download and use to FTP upload/download.... rather than using filezilla or whatever.... these java applets are slightly easier, but sometimes you have to talk people through updating their java stuff locally, etc... and incurr the possible wrath of their companies IT department.... why people can't figure out FTP sometimes opens a rabbit hole....
