The browser just got the green light for the app store. Quirky little fucker, typically ugly as any Opera browser, but not bad so far, bar some scripting limitations.
I mean, this is only the first page I opened.

some scripting limitations = no javascript i think

What possible advantage could there be over a browser developed natively for the iPhone?

competition

It is quick. UI is shit and feels awkward at times. It's just a free novelty app.
Might be useful for limiting roaming costs when browsing abroad as it reformats pages for size I guess.

can you skin it?

Oh right - I remember looking at the reformatting years ago on a different phone. That could make it worth using if executed well.

can you secretly run flash?

Just downloaded this on my iPhone earlier. It's fast. That's all. Safari still has a better experience IMHO. :)

web pages are compressed on opera's servers then sent to the phone as an image. so it's quicker, and javascript fails, let alone flash.

No one uses Opera on their computer so why would they want it on their phone? Competition is a good thing though.

Our little company uses Opera for almost everything. Is that dated. I guess we actually switch between firefox and safari, but i wonder if we will use them on our company i phones. Anyone know about this for the IPad. I thinkit is a great tool for small companies to present on or search the web on. I definetly feel strongly about the Ipad debate, and i don;t think you could remove mine anymore.
Apple, please make the ipad an actual computer.

Using it right now. Fast but not my choice for browsing. now that it actually passed through the app store, they can improve it. Hate not being able to zoom as I want. Only full or none...
Also the rendering is not quite there

BIG potential security issues with this because content passes through Opera to be compressed. Don't use with any site that has sensitive passwords or which handles money for you.

don't care for the tap to a fixed zoom either, but the speed is hard to give up, when you consider most of the time when i browse on the Iphone i am wanting to check something quickly.
