ceasars palace is ok but overrun with it's mall traffic. nice but too expensive for what it is imo. i always had a hard time finding cheap rooms there. nice casino and restaurants though.
sorry. i mixed up mandalay bay and mirage's location. mandalay is the one way off to the end of the strip, not the mirage. luxor and mandalay are at the end of the strip.

Honestly, having spent too much time in vegas, my favorite hotel room has been at the MGM Grand Signature suites. They're condos that get rented at room rates when not occupied. They also have balconies. It's just behind the MGM, so it's not DIRECTLY on the strip, but you just have to walk through the mgm. Full kitchen, heated bathroom floors, pop-up tv from the vanity, and the service is amazing as well.
If you want room size, Venetian does pretty well there. If you want cheap with decent location: Bill's Gambling Hall (the old barbary coast) is supposed to be a great deal. Plus it's above Drai's, which is just trouble.
THE hotel @ Mandalay is nice also. MGM (the regular rooms) have always done me well for standard fare vegas. MGM also has the largest casino floor.
So Aria is decent? They still having opening discounts?

Platinum is kick ass. Good price, big rooms. I stay there every year for Magic.

Went once with my old company a few years ago. As a designer, I was hoping to get some new retouching tips or take a super inspiring class in photography. I signed up for the most advanced classes they offered but 85% still seemed very elementary. Maybe it's a different experience for someone who doesn't use photoshop every day?

i have heard so many great things about it (photoshop world)...

just booked a few nights for the end of this month at the new Aria. they're running some grand opening specials so the rooms are very cheap, compared to, for instance, the Wynn (my personal fav).
i've heard good things about the Venetian too, but haven't stayed there yet.

I've stayed in the Luxor a few times. Great balance between nice and affordable, and all the rooms have floor-to-ceiling angled windows. But, because I LOVE poker, I prefer to stay in the MGM which has the best poker rooms (in my opinion). If you're into saving money, head over to the Golden Nugget, but you'll be left out of the "experience" a little.
- the MGM is so big it takes an hour to walk back to your room.fooler2
- How much time does one intend to spend IN their room anyway??? Hahahaha, Vegas is about location.monospaced
- +1 to fooler2's comment.ETM
- Ive experienced this even in atlantic city. Got buzzed at the rumba lounge, took me 45 mins to find my room.CygnusZero4

I've only been to vegas once and stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and I have no complaints.

Treasure Island is not as nice as other strip hotels, but is smaller, so getting through the casino floor to the elevators and getting to your room won't take hours.
Bellagio is nice and you don't need to go through the casino floor at all to get to the elevators.
- All in all, there are some great deals on most hotels now if you research online.ETM

Bellagio is amazing, Stayed there twice. Venetian is great too. As for lower market good Luxor, MGM, & Paris.

excalibur - nah.. it's sort of fun, but not 'nice'..
luxor - yes. the aforementioned windows are cool, but it's also just noticeably nicer than excalibur.
new york, new york - is nice i suppose, but quite forgettable.. there's some fairly nice views available though (considering it's so far down the strip.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/scp…)i've just realised, it's like i've been working my way up the strip everytime i go. i'll hit the bellagio in about a decade at this rate.

In the end, don't splurge on the nicest room unless you honestly plan on spending a significant amount of time in it. Hopefully you'll be out and about, visiting other hotel rooms, shacking up OPP, y'know.

filter your hotel search by the price range you're looking for, then go to tripadvisor.com to read the reviews. Pick the one with the best reviews. win.

thanks guys. have been searching a bit for prices and stuff and it seems like venetian, wynn and bellagio are all a bit out of my price range.
i agree that i shouldn't spend all my money on the nicest room - so i won't, but it would be cool to stay at a... uhm. cool place. =)

I stayed at the Hard Rock. At first I really hated the idea of staying there but overall I thought it was actually a nice hotel. It's a little bit off the strip which I liked.

Mandalay Bay ... Can't beat the convenience factor
