what kind of denim do you people wear? you should never machine wash denim regardless of whether it's raw or not unless you want them to fade.

8 months, you say? Interesting.

and for the record - epill you're not alone - i am aware of the no-wash denim.

not washing jeans is a new concept to me. maybe i'll try it? seems like you can develop a hell of a rash if you aren't washing your clothing, or develop a good environment for some ill necrotizing fasciitis.
wish i could join in the movement but...

"Sure, overnight freezing might kill most of the bacteria. But if some remain, they'd likely be able to recolonize the denim quickly after it warmed back up. That's because the dirt and dead skin cells present in the jeans — which serve as the bacteria's substrate — are left entirely intact by freezing."
I believe you can throw your jeans in the dryer (or put it out in the sun) and it would kill 99% bacteria. but ...that's just my thoughts as a clean freak.

You can get rid of the smell in jeans by sticking them in the freezer for a few hours, hanging, then repeating a couple of times.
TOTAL RAW.

Go buy a six-er of Miller Chills and wear them swimming in the ocean. This is what makes a QBN Man.

I knew fuck all about denim until this thread... I'll still be washing my fucking jeans. To be fair though most of my jackets have never and will never be washed. Not worn next to skint though

"Wearing jeans for long periods of time removes indigo dye where there is the most wear. Washing them removes indigo evenly throughout the jeans making the wear less distinct. Cold water removes minimal indigo while machine wash removes maximum indigo. Black woolite is supposed to prevent a lot of indigo loss however most people will tell you to use organic soap because I believe it doesn't have any active ingredients that would aid indigo loss."
