Hi guys! Basically I purchased a 3D skull to use in my projects and i plan to shatter it by using a Destruction plug-in.
The problem is that the plug-in doesn't really work on the teeth, making chunks of them disappear or making the chunks too big. I think this is because the plug-in needs to work on individual polygon objects. So what I'd like to do split the teeth poygon set into separate teeth.
I thought I'd done this by duplicating the set several times and deleting teeth leaving only one in each set but it still seems to think that it part of a group.
Any suggestions?

I vaguely remember running into a similar issue, where the polys seem to reference the original group, in a strange hidden background process. Never figured it out, but as a work around, have you tried just copy pasting each group into a separate doc, saving, and then bring back to your comp? it might break the connection. i think that worked for me.

try this-
select the polygons ( tooth by tooth )
right click- 'disconnect'
click OFF preserve groups
then try the destruction plugin.i dont know how its been built but for shattering glass etc you can use this method

- hold on i may be confusing this with using fracture object in mograph. pfft try it thowhereRI
- mograph fracture object + destruction plugin = fun ass combo ;)djurizen
- Hi whereRI. Tried that but its still part of the polygon group. I just want to separate the individual teeth from each other. Any other ideas? I would be easier if I could attach images but I don't know how.benvoid
- sure you clicked off preserve groups?whereRI
- hmmmwhereRI
- maybe something to do with center of mass/axis?whereRI
- try break up the object ( seperate teeth etc) then export each one as .obj and bring in new proj?whereRI
- benvoid, did you try the down and dirty copy paste method I mentioned earlier? just create blank throw away comps, and copy paste to them...djurizen
- copy paste between them...? might work.djurizen

(whereRI has the right answer for sure)

I'm not familiar with Destruction plugin but it sounds similar to Explosion FX deformer which you can manually configure using material selections.
- The Destruction plugin break into individual chunks. So it would be like if you you had a solid cube and took a hammer to it. Check it out! http://greyscalegori…benvoid
- Still seems like approx. the same functionality. Plugin looks cool though will dl :)zr
