Hi French peeps,
How do you legally become a freelancer in france?
do you just register at the auto-entrepreneurs site? what other steps for tax, social security etc?Any help appreciated !

P0 is to register your business, it's free, got to pick up the form at "centre des impots" in the town you're live in. Don't know specifically about autoentrepreneur status (ask them), maybe different tax policy.

With the autoentrepreneur status, every 3 months you pay 20% of your earnings for the past 3 months. And that's it.
The main issue with this status is that you cannot bill more than 30k euros of services a year. I think the limit is 80k euros a year if you're in the business of selling stuff, goods etc.
