aaah right. basically you have to pay for the training which is uber expensive and then get hours.
its dificult to get hours because no one trusts you. many people will work as an egineer for a company and log hours when they can. also i think he got most his hours working in nigeria on oil rigds. now he has enough to be trusted captain and flies all sorts of things. recreational/touristy, medi vacs, engineering/transport etc etc.he is living the dream out there. but he is a very lucky one, out of all the people he did the course with, he is one of the only dudes to have a steady, good job

I had a friend who was a helicopter pilot. when I met him, he was working for the local news in sf. he went to hawaii to fly tourists around, but when the economy went down he had a hard time finding work. he went up to washington state to fly medivac, despite his wife and house being in hawaii, because he needed the money. the company skimped on maintanence to save some dough. he died last year in a crash due to engine failure, along with two paramedics.

was inspired by all of the above show and today this:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/…I was going to go to join the service to get my license only free way(sort of).....but that ws a year before we went to IRAQ.
so I decided to go do realestate. not a sales man so ended up doing and loving graphic design now. but still dream of flying. RC heli would be cool for a month. My dream now is going pro in Flash(F*** you Flash hater by the way)

State employees began an aerial wolf hunt on the Yukon border on Tuesday in what officials describe as an effort to preserve caribou for shooting by hunters. Officials at the adjacent Yukon-Charlie Rivers National Preserve argued against the hunt, saying that the wolves have had a particularly hard winter and need to recover. The state plans to kill as much as 80 percent of the local wolf population in the next week, or 185 wolves; there are an estimated 46,500 caribou. Since 2006 the state has regularly granted hunting licenses or assumed the task itself in planes or helicopters.
FYI.

- you may be right. i know this used to be true for airplane pilots.SteveJobs
- Microsofts flight simulator no...the retail version is VERY unrealistic. You cannot log real hours in this "video game"marychain
- A pro version of "X-Plane"...accredit... by the FAA under controlled circumstances maybe.marychain
- X-Plane is built around real aircraft flight performances....far more realistic simulator...but still a sim.marychain

I had a friend who was a helicopter pilot. when I met him, he was studying for the SATs and had is mind set on getting into Harvard.
He was introduced to alcohol at a early age and his dream of attending harvard was crushed.
He spent years hanging out at the local pub, playing in bands, experimenting in making documentary films and driving a snow plow.
One day he just sobered up and got himself a helicopter pilot licenses and stayed sober for several seasons. We all thought he wasn't as funny as he used to be so now he's back to his regular slurry voiced, belching at inappropriate times self.

A friend of mine went to US, spent a lot of money to get his licence and then discovered that US licence is not valid in Italy. And opened a drugstore.
