Start my new gig there next week and looking to find a decent place to rent and or areas to rent in. Any help from the locals? I know there's gotta be some QBN'ers out there.

I lived in Victoria for 5 years. Where are you working?
Downtown - Chinatown (Fisgard & Herald St. More expensive)
Cook St. Village - Nice area, close to downtown
James Bay - Close to downtown, also nice area, cheaper than downtown.

On Douglas near Mayfield Mall area. I've been told James Bay is a decent place to look. Not sure if anything is nice around where I will be working.

Hm, way out by mayfair mall eh? Housing out there is pretty shitty, if you lived in James Bay, or Downtown, you could live in a nice area and pretty easily get to work via transit or bike. (or car, if you have one.) Are you working for a studio? In-House?

I have a sweet bike I'm dying to use so I'd be up for the commute. I start working as a designer for Number 41 the old gig that fellow NT'er sherman held before he moved up north.

Yeah man, anything that I mentioned would be fine. Nothing in Victoria is terribly far away from anything. Downtown is more modern loft-like living, whereas James Bay and Cook St. Village are more heritage homes and character apartments.
