Anyone down with this lil bugger?
Found one for 160 locally - wondering if I can get it cheaper if I keep my eye out for a couple weeks, but don't want to lose this price!

Terry Richardson & Ryan McGinely use them for the 'ironic hipster factor'. Not 'cause they're high quality instruments.

I like Ryan McGinley's photos quite a bit.
I must say that appears to be an attempt to belittle my taste. Not really like a sharing of opinions.

Sorry didn't mean to sound that way. I'm just blown away that anyone would pay money for that camera.

i can't decide whether this is just a trend or actual technical excellence.
- I'd say a little of both. These definitely have a "look", but they're also overpriced.DoTheMacarena

No problemo. Check out Flickr and do a search for Yashica T4. The quality is pretty unique.
My reasoning really is I don't like digital cameras for what I do, also what I do depends greatly on having a camera at all times due to a lot of traveling. There is really no film camera that compares with size and clarity.
I use a Pentax ME Super - but it is an SLR and probably twice as heavy and quite a bit bigger.
I get that they come off like hipster weenee's. Terry is alright. He lives the life but I don't consider what he does art. McGinley I think is one of the only contemporary photographer's doing anything that is of interest to me personally - lately.
Besides Corey Arnold and maybe a couple others.

Well if you're looking for the film look you shouldn't have to pay $160 for a camera that was considered junk even when it first came out.
You should try an Olympus Stylus

They're all over ebay for dirt cheap.
- Not just film - it's more about the lens. Although I will check out the kind of pictures this camera takes.grafiske

grafiske, I have one in my old camerabag at home. Although I can't remember if it's grey or black, or if it's waterproof or not. I bought it new back in the day, maybe 1998. It's probably had less that 100 rolls through it. Once I get home, I'll double check and if it's the right one I'll post it and maybe we can make a deal.

I'm not gunna lie, I would love to have one, but it would just add to my growing collection of undeveloped film. I love my dslr and hasselblad, but they can't come with me everywhere I go. A holga is fun but jokey, but still a bit bulky. A Yaschica would be a great pocket cam, and it still has a nice look and clarity. It captures the glint from the cocaine on a hooker's ass like no other.
- buuuut, i still don't think i'd shell out more that $100 for a 35mm P&S.DoTheMacarena

What is the advantage of those lil buggers?
- vaxorcist0
T4 was nice... but slower focussing lag than I liked... nice lens tho
Minox 35GT was divine, but Aperture Priority and Manual Focus...
Olympus XA-1 was lovely tiny clamshell rangefinder with a good lens
That contax was lovely....
A 70's Rangefinder like an Olympus RC was my all-time favorite small 35mm film camera for street work... zero shutter lag, very quiet and easy to get used to guessing accurately...some of these old buggers...
My optical Favorite was the Konica S2, delightful Bokeh, beautifully subtle lens, but often dodgy shutter... and meters always dead... so learn to guess exposure.. buy 2 or them $40 each...
- holy fuck vax. i think we've found your dirty secret obsession.bigtrickagain
- loooong time ago... in art school... sold most of them....vaxorcist
- I worked in a camera store while I was in art school... so I could try without buying too...vaxorcist

i'm fond of small 35mm cameras too - until recently i owned a nikon 35ti:
beautiful titanium body, good lens, elegant dials on top (look at those things! like the fucking patek phillipe of cameras!) but ergonomics were shit so i sold it for $300.
now i have an olympus stylus epic:
less features, but way easier to use, smaller and lighter, with sharp & fast optics too (f2.8). i think i got it for $40. i highly recommend it. (plus, i believe helmut newton used to rock one)
- gotta love the dials on top.... but I tried one and found it very strange to actually usevaxorcist

The Yashica Y4 was my bestest friend for many years - I think I went through 3 total - 2 got stolen and the final one got droppped in a tide pool. RIP my good friends
