I have the old one and some of the original tv series on dvdand I also liked the american version from the 80s, I can't remember the name, but I remember thinking it was so cool back in the day..

Awesome. I used to watch Zatoichi on IFC Samurai Saturdays. Classic Zatoichi is 1000 times better than the movie from the past couple years. Slow paced but my favorite samurai series.
