Anyone reccomend a good camera bag.
I have 3 lenses and want something to hold the whole lot. Nothing too big though. I don't want to lug a suitacase around.

my t2i arrived today (:

i have a 30d. i have been looking to upgrade for a long time. i think this camera makes it time. pretty much everything from the 7d at half the price - i'm in.

more importantly have you seen the state of controls on the back interface on entry DSLRs?
For example Eos 550d -
The image may not get the point across,
go to a shop, pick it up and it feels horrific, no thought has gone into how the buttons feel at all, feels very cheap.i was in a camera shop and nearly all the entry DSLRs had a similar arrangement and feel. some nikons are still nice though.
1000d -
- 550D is very plasticy. And Canon have had shit button layouts for years, Nikon is very good hererosskemp
- yeh i find nikon a lot nicer on the back.
innuendo?Hombre_Lobo

so, in other words, this is a cheap 7D?

Keep up with reviews plz, t2i owners. I plan on picking one up very soon. I was originally planning on getting a 7D, but since I'll mostly need it for video, there's no reason to pay double the amount for a few pro-photo features (the body would be nice, but I'd rather spend the money on a follow focus and rails or a nice prime...). Right?

B. Personally I don't feel that better control feel, a slightly better viewfinder and more AF points is worth spending twice as much. That money would be better spent on lenses/strobes/another month of rent on my studio.
- agreed... I may pull the tirgger o a 550D soon, if I don't love it, I can easily sell it....vaxorcist

concerning image quality, let's take the 50D and the t1i into comparison. Both use the exact same image sensor and the same Digic chip for processing. I don't understand how one camera could produce a better image than the other.

http://www.dpnotes.com/canon-t1i…One difference the second link does provide is a better viewfinder (pentaprism vs pentamirror, again, no effect on image quality)

Nice lenses BannedKappa, always fun getting new lenses. I got a 50mm 1.8 too!
i got these a week ago, they are old four third lenses designed for 35mm film SLR's. but they work on my GF1 with an adapter, manual focus though. -
OM 50mm f1.8-
makes my GF1 look like this -
and a 135mm f3.5 -
not really tested them out properly, but ive found the 50mm f.18 for £20, is fantastic, very sharp! would have paid 90 for it and been happy.

it would be cost-prohibitive for canon to use different sensors for their entry-level and midrange cameras, which is why both lines use the same basic sensor and processor. i would surmise that the midrange line's primary advantage is control feel - two control dials, pentaprism instead of pentamirror, an extra lcd panel on top instead of the back lcd being used for display and control.

- sooo purty...ok_not_ok
- me too, i have 2 of them!slappy
- Love that logo.Hombre_Lobo

adding on to bigtrickagain, I think that the 50D is also made out of metal, the t1i out of plastic. Certainly stronger. So the point is: a few more pro-oriented controls and build, same image.

It's awesome...HD Vid rocks.
Initial low light tests look great. Here's a great review on it.

The high-ISO pics aren't really low light, are they.

This will be a perfect second body to my 5D. Pocket-size dslr, ideal for concert photography because of the magnifying 1.6x crop and high ISO.

nice, Hombre! I am a fan of old lenses on new cameras - I sport a pentax 50mm f1.2 on my canon 30d/t2i:
http://www.pentaxforums.com/foru…- yeh man old lenses have a nice aesthetic to them, really mechanical like.Hombre_Lobo
- old lenses kickass
canon is shit regarding this issue. you can't use old lenses on new bodies, because of the mount, fuck that! i had a nikon FE2 wich is a lovely camera, the design, the mechanics, the feeling, everything! i made this bad and sold it to get a analog canon to use my 'digital' lenses, and i found out after all old canons are shit.shoto_can - you canot use old Canon lenses, but with a small converter you can use all Nikkor, some Zeiss, Leica & Panavision lenses :-)Jurre
- Panavision even ;-)Jurre

epic,
the senors are not the same, very similar though, that is stated even by Canon. Beyond the sensors there are still a lot of components on board that are not mentioned. I will have to wait to till dpreview does their full review of the 550D to be entirely conclusive. I am actually waiting for it.
Don't get me wrong. The 550D brings the entry level line closer to the am/pro line. No doubt about it. I am a skeptic to say the 550D will perform as well as or outperform the 50D. It would be consumer suicide for Canon to do that and terrible marketing. From my experience, the line has always been drawn between the entry level and the entry level for amateur/pro line products. Generally this is in overall image quality. ;)
- interesting... I remember 300D had worse iq than 10D despite having the same sensor. Is it true for current lineup?raf

ooooo
nice aperture, get some sharp pics with it?
i find my f1.8 50mm @ f1.8 does some ghosting, but at 2.8 its very very sharp. ill post some pics later!
