Hi... new to motion, but very interested. I have been working with after effects and post production tools. My computer is too damn slow to get the use I need out of it; would anybody happen to know what the most affordable yet effective hardware requirements be?
I do understand a tower would be best but i don't have the loot for that right now.
Cheers!

I use a MacBook Pro- 2.53 Intel Core 2 Duo. 4GB RAM. I run AE, FCP, and C4D daily with virtually no issue. I'm pushing it on some projects, but haven't yet hit the need for tower power.

we still have people here on quad G5s. anything three years old or less will be fine for AE. new intels are nice. don't worry about a graphics card if you're not doing 3d.
other than that, lots of ram and a fast hdd setup.

i just purchased the 27"imac. the upper models come with a quad processor and can be upgraded to 16gigs of ram. for the price being so low and it being able to match the.. well come close to the specs of the tower.. i suggest since you are like me at a financial wall to get that..
the lower ended models of imac seem to be much fast than the upper professional versions and have the intel chip and it can go upto 3.33ghz over the 2.66 of the professional imac 27"
i am running full 3D apps such as Modo, Maya, Blender, Rhino.. and moving to Solid Works as well and the imac is running very smoothly with no issues at all..
my recommendation to you.
