How to be a rockstar photoshopper.

I would like to write a book too .. but I don't think anyone needs another book about Photoshop.
People who need to achieve something specific, have generally invested enough time in learning how to use the tools of their trade. They need tips, wisdom and advice about the theory and techniques involved in achieving their goal.

Sorry to sound simple, but start with the reader in mind and make it focussed to their issues, problems etc...

sounds like you have pretty clued up readers. but never underestimate people and computers. I was with a client recently who although working with computers for 15 years didn't know about ctrl+C ctrl+V

another photoshop book?

Why not give them a quick chapter on how to use photoshop? As an advance user, I'm sure you can teach me a few good trick there.

I'm sure your publisher/editor will be able to advise you on this.

who is your target user? old ladies, or IT admin staff?
- Ideally the visual designer on a UI development team but I suppose it could be the developer him/herselfReverendGeneral

The question really is are you teaching people how to use Photoshop, or are you teaching them how to _____ with Photoshop? I think the second implies that they must have some basic knowledge. If you wanted to be really quick and clean you could just write an introduction and reference some $10 dummy book or a website to refer to if they don't know some basics.
- Good point, I've spent 6 pages on just introducing the damn layers palette.ReverendGeneral

I would say assume they have experience, but be sure to use terminology so that if they don't get it, they can search and find something close to the answer on the netz.

So I'm writing a book about using Photoshop for a rather specific purpose. I'm debating whether I should write it from a beginner standpoint and explain all the detail of all the relevant information or if I should assume the user has Photoshop experience and only concentrate on the specific things that are important for the task. Thoughts?
