Question about fees

I have a client that was starting a new business and I was creating a website for them. For the initial mockups the client didn't have the logo yet so I did a quick mockup and put one in there as a place holder.
Now, the client wants to use the logo on business cards and such. My question is, seeing that this client does not have a ton of money, do I charge for this, or earn the good will and give it to them for free?
Anyone ever had this experience?

back it into the site design fee

the site was already finished and paid for before it was requested.

i would charge something. I can't imagine you only spend 2 minutes on a logo and a card. They should understand that things like that take time.

you are charging for designing a site, not an identity package. new contract with different SOW or bust.

Lets see the mark.

The logo has intrinsic value apart from the time you spent on it. Don't let it go.
Besides, there's no goodwill to be had there. What you're telling them is that you're willing to work for free, because what you do is of no value.
Man up, charge for the mofo.

tell them that its not print-ready and that you need to make some adjustments, then charge them for the extra time.

An identity is most definitely a separate job from designing a website. Ideally it would come first, but in this case that won't be possible. Let him know that you would love to help him develop a mark to compliment the site (and to complete the identity), but that it would be a separate project. The key is to be nice and let him know that you're there to provide him a service. Business is business, and if he paid in full for the site he'll understand where you're coming from.

is something new work that's not in the original agreement? more work means more pay, my man.

1) Shut down your laptop.
2) Look round to see if anyone sees you are putting your coat on.
3) Run out of building to car.
4) Drive home.
5) Look for new job in underwear.

I always wondered who made sites like that.
Never work for free. You will never gain any respect doing that.
