I need to render a few (h.264) versions of a video at different Data rates.
I have tried adobe media encoder, compressor and Quicktime alone. I set the maximum data rate at 256kbps though when I review the final video in Quicktime they are always much larger (ie 1800kbps). Any tips/ suggestions?

The bit rate calculator is cool though I'm looking for a way to set the bitrate before exporting.
I assumed that by setting the maximum bitrate in the export settings to the desired maximum bitrate that Compressor would compress within that rate, this doesn't seem to be the case.
