what the fuck are you looking for here?
- janne760

digging the homeless installation man.

i hear the custom-paintings-to-match-comfor... industry is really booming these days.
but seriously i dig the work, and the site is very simple and easy and doesn't distract from the work.

"Painting to match my comforter."
lose that. and the sketches. the painting is ok, but i dont think this really helps you out.

Try putting previous/next arrows at the top of each page as well as the bottom, easier to skip through your stuff

For the detail pages, I'd move the prev/next to the top, possibly to the right.
I'd remove the the hiphop ad. Looks too istocky.
Other than that, I guess it's an average designer portfolio. Dude holding a poster. Website in safari browser.

Just a general thought here...remember when everyone put tons of work into their site to do something creative/ unique
Over the past few years, it seems like the trend has been towards extreme simplicity and using templates. Which is a good thing overall, but when your work is less than amazing it might not hurt to do something interesting with the site. Most people can figure out how to navigate a site, it doesn't HAVE to be a series of text links on a white background. (rant ends)
- Not aimed at you in particular, just the world in generalukit
- Valid point. Thanks :)jeremyfordesign

lose the sketches/drawings. noone really gives a shit.
i know it is hard, but clients want working shit.there's not ONE client on this earth that *really* cares about artistry.
it's a bullshit bubble living amongst art school hipsters on the internet boards.
LIFE OUT THERE IS ABOUT WORK, WORK & EFFECT.

"Thanks for the constructive criticism (not you janne76). Keep em comin'"
you only want to hear what you want to hear,
bite through the pain now and save a lot of shit you'll encounter in life anyway.i am a happy person btw, not bitter.
JUST TRYING TO PUSH SHIT INTO THE SCOPE OF REALITY.
ffs.

Relax, janne76. You need a vacation. Suppose I wanted to show a potential employer my work process? You don't think they'd be interested in seeing sketches?
- most of the time, no.janne76
- unless you got those dreamy kind of clients. but they usually pay shit.janne76
- Good point.jeremyfordesign

the thing is jeremy, your site looks like millions of those car.go-style websites out of there. jsut showing a few meagerly cropped samples that don't attract me to the core message.
ask yourself:
"WHY should they hire YOU?"seriously:
this is key to working on self-employed basis.- Noted. You've critiqued the website, but what about the work itself?jeremyfordesign
- see below.janne76
- janne760
i always hope people would be moving into making their shit NOT look like any of the "design community" shit.
because as a designer you come with solutions, not jsut eye candy.
but hey, it differs if you work in the advertising biz.
try to make your own mark and let them know why it is you they should hire.
- brains0
I'd take the pencil sketches off.
- Not feeling them?jeremyfordesign
- Nah, unrefined and not necessarily your strong suit, at least for commercial employment.brains
- Okay, thanks.jeremyfordesign
