I have set up an automatic page numbering.
My problem is that it goes either on black or white background.
I tried to play with the object transparancy mode, but it looks akward...
I would like to avoid seting up 2 different models an dispatching them regarding the pages background (90% chance it goes wrong as I will have to move pages...)
I don't want it looking 50% transparent or so. It should be black on white / white on black only.
maybe applying some blending mode?
If the background will ALWAYS be white or black, just use two master pages.
Unless the document has a huge number of pages, it shouldn't be that much hassle. I'm currently doing this with 4 coloured backgrounds for a 120 page book, and it hasn't been a problem.
I think you will need two different master pages. All you need to do is drop the right one onto the correct page on the palette and you'll be sweet. It wouldn't take too long to do the whole thing.
thanks for your help :)
the background is not 100% white or 100% black ;
The catalog is about 120 pages I have approximatively 60 product shots pages with white background. The rest is made of pictures sometimes clear or dark background.
I would have created 2 masters, but knowing pages order are not fixed (and won't be fixed until the last minute) I don't want to mess up the whole thing....
Page order shouldn't really be relevant to whether the master page you assign is correct, as the master page stays with the page it's assigned to if the page is moved through the document.
Unless you mean the content or photo on each page is subject to change?
make your number red
thanks rascuache, I try that now.
2 masters or script.
USE 2 DIFFERENT MASTER PAGES. JUST DRAG AND DROP EITHER A WHITE OR A BLACK ONE FFS.
It works perfectly
I though master page would not allow me to move pages (I usually set the master according to the number page selecton), but I'm quite a noob.
Numbers will update automatically when you shuffle pages, but beware if you're using a table of contents compiled via InDesign - as this won't update automatically. You'll need to update it whenever you shuffle pages.
