What neighborhoods are best to live in if you are NOT married with kids?
Right now I am thinking possibly of Capitol Hill and Bell Town.
I read through the previous Seattle threads and got some pretty good info. But I would like to hear even more...

Belltown = right in the middle of downtown and has more of a yuppie feel to it, right near the beach, market, etc., most expensive place to rent or buy a place probably.
Capitol Hill = about 10 blocks from downtown and is where all the kids hang out and go to shows, score drugs etc. Much cheaper to live and some nice residential neighborhoods in addition to the nightlife scene.
Other places to consider (but which would be a short drive or bus ride to downtown) would be Queen Anne (upscale and arty), Ballard, and Freemont (kind of a hippie vibe but also homeplace of Adobe, Gettyimages and a couple of interesting businesses). Personally, I live at the border of Capitol Hill and downtown and work in Belltown.

Very good info ukit.
You are the one I was hoping to answer this question...
Right now I am in a residential hotel in Queen Anne. But I have got to find something more permanent by the end of the month.
I might be delusional, but I was hoping to make it without a car here, so Ballard is probably not in the cards...

I don't own a car. Have to admit I haven't been to Ballard too often but the buses are generally pretty decent around here.
Check out this site:
You can figure out the route from one place to another and how long it takes. For instance I used to commute to Bellevue every day and it wasn't too bad.
So, do you have work yet or are you looking (not that I have any to offer unfortunately)?

A few neighborhoods that are nice:
-Cobain Hill
-Lower Hendrix Valley
-Starbuckingham Harbor
-Vista (a Gated community)
-Sleepless SquareI also enjoying visiting Grungecastle and Plaid Meadows, but I'm not sure I'd want to live there.

I just stayed in Seattle for a week for work...in a very cool Capitol Hill B&B...and Capitol Hill was pretty cool and convenient. A junkie rolled across the hood of my car at a stop sign but other than that it was okay. I don't think I'd want to live there though.
Queen Anne, Georgetown seems to be thriving. I would love to live on Bainbridge Island but it's probably not the best place for singles. Don't go to West Seattle; have friends over there and it's still patchy and far from everything (especially if you have to commute over Lake Washington).
