Gerry Villareal is an art director + designer whose resumé includes Emigre, Baron&Baron, Apple and Visionaire. Elegant simplicity.

Wonderful, inspiring stuff...until you get to the 'about' section.
Apparently Gerry is big on editing his design work, but not his written work. Lil' too much designspeak for someone striving for clarity.
Otherwise, I'm humbled and honestly, jealous.

^ One note - The only piece in there that I don't feel was a success is the Virtual Greats site. There's nothing in the design that supports the main thrust of the company, and it would have been nice to see something that had to do with the sale of licensed virtual goods. Of course, I wasn't in the client meetings, so they very well could have asked for it that way.
But DANG that entire Talisker suite is solid...from logo to advertising to web. Great, very confident stuff.
- Most of the web stuff could be cut.dMullins
- Aight...well, I didn't want to go there, but...yeh...luckyorphan

is this inspiring?

^...nope, not really. it's just a portfolio of someone with 20 years industry experience. you'd hope to have a few good things to show by then.

i dont want to be a dick.. but really?
the adverstising.. well.. its not really advertising. the rocawear stuff is illegible - whats the design/art direction merit of the ShadyLtd stuff? (the logo is balls - the composition worse)
the digital stuff is average at a stretch. his editorial is nice enough - but hardly inspiring.
