it doesn't matter if you have a receipt or not. it's an apple. only they make them. does it have that ati chipset or not?

doesn't matter. mine was 3 years out of warranty. if it's a certain model, there are some known problems re: the logic board. they will replace on a case by case by case basis so as to avoid doing a full recall.

Selling this one for parts will and getting a new one will be a better deal than fixing it

ESKEMA, please LISTEN to johndiggity, I had the same problem, and not only the gave me a new computer, but a newer model, I was also out of warranty, and no receipt was asked. It was part of a recall.
(if your computer qualifies for that recall, meaning it has to be a certain model, with a specific chipset and a year of manufacturing) it doesnt matter if you bought it used or from someone else).
The reason they replace those machines is so they dont get sued, this is bigger than you and your receipt, this is a corporation selling defective products and they want to make it right, you will be saving some money and possibly getting a better computer.
- find the info though google on their site, PRINT the page, and take it to the store.Meeklo

I even was a week in repair when I found out about the recall thing (they wont mention it to you) and I printed the page and they gave me the money I spend on repair for the old computer back
