No EE users huh?
Would have thought there'd be a little interest, what with the few hundred threads on what CMS to use;)

Actually having used this for a day or so it's way better than 1.x
- Can you edit templates from FTP?ismith
- You always have been able to ??imnotaplumber
- You could do that before, but it's made easier now.ukit
- Cool. I just remember it being a bit of a pain because of the caching or something (been a while).ismith

I find the interface a bit rough in places, I was hoping for a more polished UI.

The three tier dropdown seemed off to me at first, but once you get into it the transitions are much smoother.
Overall, it feels closer to the quality of the Wordpress admin UI which is admittedly still better designed (although ee is a better platform overall).
But what is really cool is the Snippets functionality they added, meaning you can reuse code easily without having to use embedded templates that make calls to the database and slow your site down (one of the major weaknesses of the previous ee).
- UI should be up to the same level as Wordpress, that would be nice.imnotaplumber
- Agree. This version was designed by that Veerle chick apparentlyukit
- It looks better than the early comps that leaked out a while back which were way over the topukit

@ukit How does using snippets which contain EE tags differ from embedding templates that are cached?
- ukit0
http://expressionengine.com/foru…
Snippets can be considered to actually be part of the template that they are used on, with their expanded contents parsed simultaneous to other tags and variables on the template. Embedded templates are separate templates, with their own preferences (caching, PHP parsing, access, etc.), and are parsed individually. Put another way, embedded templates are not included in the parent template, but rather added to them after the fact, using a separate query and full page parsing resources for each template.
If you were using the solspace template caching module I'm not sure that overall effect is all that different, but I'm noticing my test site seems building the pages a lot faster.
