The computer is a white Intel iBook (early 2008). The Mrs. bought this AV cable from Apple: http://store.apple.com/us/produc…
Tried it on two standard televisions that wouldn't connect.
It didn't seem to be the right cable anyway since the only thing it would plug into on the computer was the third port from the right in this diagram.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT15…, which is audio in.My best guess at this point is that we need is an adapter comparable to this. http://store.apple.com/us/produc…
The only problem is I can't find one that lists the iBook as a compatible computer.
Has anyone been able to connect a recent iBook to a tv successfully? What did you use?

You want one that hooks up to the third port from the LEFT, the mini-DVI, I believe, not the right. Why you purchased an audio cable to transmit video is beyond me.
I have a mini-DVI to HDMI cable that works perfectly for my HDTV. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/PTC-Mini-D…

Well, I only have a standard tv, two actually. I agree about which port I need to use on the iBook.
The cable I bought was this. It's a pretty standard s-video A/V cable.

Early 2008 would be a MacBook, not an iBook.
You want one of these:

mini dvi to video adapter + and necessary composite cables for a standard tv will get you the video.
Just need an auxiliary cable for sound.if you have a flat screen mini dvi to dvi + dvi to hdmi cable + aux for sound
- I was planning on streaming the audio to my stereo through iTunes.CyBrain
- That only streams iTunes, not the computer sound. You need to set up aux sound.monospaced
