MS have announced that they are starting work on IE9 now.
Lets hope they get it right.

wow, I'm so looking forward to having to figure out bug fixes for yet another fucking IE.
Maybe, just maybe by the time they release it IT departments across the world will have finally replaced IE 6.

in all honesty ie8 is doing well but MS still not punching their weight.

I don't necessarily have an issue with IE - outside of some goofy work arounds for some jquery styling. What I really object to is IT departments clinging to IE 6 resulting in me having to make sure that all designs work in IE 6, IE 7, IE8, (IE9), chrome, opera, safari, and ff3 - multiply those last 4 by 2 to cover the macs out there.
I think the 12 browsers really explains my general dislike for coding now.
- so if you were running an IT dep, wouldn't you also restrict your support to just one browser? =)zarkonite

70% of users in china use IE6.
that's like 20 billion!
it's not gong away any time soon- precisely. A lot of corporate IT depts. only support IE 6 as well. So why not add another one to the mix just for fun?flashbender

why worry about big corporates clinging to IE 6 anyway? shouldn't the people working there be doing some work instead of surfing the net?.. like filing some print outs or doing something on microsoft word with clip art maybe.
