What he should have said is "THOSE Chinese are a sub-species", in the same way that, if they did it, THOSE Manucians would be a sub-species.

Maybe admiration is due to an individual who manages to create a successful career out of adding feyness to stodginess and making them stick together with soppy pretension. Maybe it's the British Dream. Then again, maybe not.
