Shopping around for an affordable EOS digital camera. I really like Canon's color processor. Any recommendations are appreciated!

The 18-55 II IS is supposedly much better than the older non-IS version. It will likely be bundled with your camera.
Get a 50mm lens also, either f/1.8 (±$100) or better f/1.4 (±$350) – 50mm is where the fun begins.

You could, however, search for an used 5D with a 50mm/1.8 – this could be close to your budget bounds and a killer set.
Possibly overkill though and carrying all the risks coming with a second hand camera body...

i have an xsi and i got a 50mm 1.8 with it instead of the kit lens. in retrospect though i might consider getting a used body with a full-frame sensor.

T1i or xsi with 50mm 1.8? I'm torn between the two now. If I really had a choice I would go with the 5D.

I have an XSi - I just wish it took video.

I'd love a Canon 7D. Check out this guys set-up and test footage:

why can't they name their cameras the same in all countries. do they have trouble typing?
they're all heavy if you want something a bit more substantial in terms of features and control, and they're not as user friendly as Nikons. maybe borrow someones and shoot with it for a day, your hand probably won't thank you.
