I love old footage of cities and this one of London done in Biocolour is pretty great from 1927.

Aye, I posted this deep in the bowels of the Vid of the Day thread yesterday - are you a Wired reader too, Mal? :)
Fascinating footage, mind - interesting to see how common people in Britain then react to the camera like common people in remote or third world countries might now.

Breslau, Germany, now Wroclaw, Poland.
It is a private footage, we can see a boy who was a son of a high-ranked local Wehrmacht officer, on his way to school. Then there is a military inspection at the Polish border and a father and son trips outside the city.
It is strange to see Wehrmacht uniforms in a private film. It is a lovely summer of 1939, just a few weeks before the war. After a bit of searching, it turns out the footage must have come from private archives of Edwin Graf von Rothkirch und Trach, who was the Commandant of the Fortifications of Breslau. He appears on the film with other officers and later with his son Leopold (Poldi).
A little bit of googling later I found another video of Edwin Graf von Rothkirch und Trach. This time it is right at the end of the war, in an American propaganda piece from 1945. He's being captured by the US Army. You can easily recognize the face from previous film.
He appears in the clip at 4:54

Haskell Wexler's Medium Cool from 1969 has a great intro tracking shot from the back of a motorcycle.... and some interesting live 68 democratic convention footage too.....
