For years I've thought about joining and every time the prices make me not want to.
£156 to join / £132/year after
£20/piece to enter images
£220 / page in Images book
£44 / hanging fee for images showThose prices are members prices, others are almost double.
So that's the best part of £500. Does anyone have experience of joining? Obviously they're established, highly regarded etc.

Association of Illustrators?
I think my missus was once a member, I'll ask her when she gets back in tonight.

Association of Illustrators, in the UK they are seemingly well regarded. Good list of patrons, speakers etc etc. Varooom Magazine is part of their 'stable' etc. Images is an annual exhibition and book.

The main plus for me is the pricing advice. Always good to have a knowledgeable second opinion on hand if needed.
I joined when I was about to enter the images competition and it seemed to make sense when I looked at the prices for non-members. Otherwise I've enjoyed a discount on art materials from London Graphics and got a few discounts on publications from the AOI store.
I can't think that there have really been a lot of other great advantages to being a member.
A subscription to Varooom is included in the price but I've never been a great fan of the writing in that mag and now they've changed the design it's not even pleasant to look at.
