Well since they all seem to be geared towards screen viewing, I wouldn't be surprised if any of them were created in Photoshop, but they could all be done in Illustrator. The .net and F W A images are both keen on pixels and were probably made as raster images.
You should look at this thread, there are some great icons in here that would be very helpful to study if you're thinking about creating your own: http://www.qbn.com/topics/612394…

It doesn't matter what app was used to create them, whatever fits the job. No doubt there are some beginner tuts for this stuff at http://www.smashingmagazine.com/… although it all looks like pretty basic stuff.

are you talking about the icons/logos themselves or the effects applied to them?
i think they're definately created in illustrator but then placed in photoshop and had layer styles appliead to fit in with these screen layouts.

Not sure about the others, but I happen to know that the top, at&t icon was designed in Photoshop.

Get your basic icon/button elements from www.istockphoto.com and modify them. Afterall, why try to recreate the wheel?

Like others have said, it's not the program that matters, it's the design sensibility.
If you're more interested in the technical aspects, then here's a good starting point for PS: http://www.teehanlax.com/blog/?p… If you check out their files, you'll see that they rely on shapes and multiple layer effects.

Basically, it'll be quicker and easier to do these in PS.. until someone asks you to give them a bigger version or change something ever so slightly, and it's all in bloody raster.
So I usually try do it in illustrator. But you can keep it all vector in PS.. but it's a mission.
- this is why fireworks is better than PS & AI at this style of icon designlambsy
