I work at a .net house, and am wondering how many other designers that use .net are around here.
I hate winforms. I want to move to mvc for more markup control, but agency isn't interested in this.

I'd love to hear about this.. the .net people I know seem to live in a parallel universe and speak a different tongue....
I web surf a bit and read .net stuff, so much is from an IT department perspective...., but hearing from actual design people who do this stuff would be interesting....

.net encourages to create awful shit.
You need to work with developers that are competent enough to be able to generate semantically correct HTML out of the beast.- how does it encourage awful shit? is it default way of working in VisualStudio? or IE box model hell?vaxorcist
- some .net components use HTML tables for non tabular information as well as in-line css styles = AWFUL SHITclearThoughts

I've seen alot of HTML tables in .net code.... anyone know it's due to laziness, or due to the toolset?

It's how you use it. A good .NET developer can get around it.
It's all down to which components you use. I.e. Repeater, Grid, etc.

I worked with some amazing .NET developers BTW - but they are hard to find.
