Also as one or two others have said, if it's sort of a classic retro look they need, I'd set the logotype in a condensed grotesque, such as Titling Gothic. Find it put to great use here:

Also, there's a fairly nice condensed sans that Surfer Magazine started using for headlines recently. Not sure what it's called, but I bet they'd be happy to help.
