years ago when i did some work as a consultant for the state government, a DG gave me the advice that any design i tried to pass through a government committee would work best if "you do it in blue". it was true.
currently a project had stalled. 4 proposals met with a committee of nonplused and mixed opinions. why red? why this? why that? from fucking mainly engineers.
so i did one of the proposals again in blue.
fucker sailed on through, didn't touch the sides. much like a lubed up chimp mounting ukit's back.
so some clear advice. when you've almost given up, do it in blue.

green and orange seem to be the colors most likely to randomly offend clients......
so sad it too often becomes this way..... it demeans the profession...
but seriously, ideally, such matters of tweeky taste should not impact anything, ideally the smart CD sets up a meeting at the beginning where the stakeholders have agree that they are NOT the target audience, therefore such random matters of their taste do NOT MATTER..... and of course, in the ad/marketing biz. "not liking" is better than "not noticing" the toned down inoffensive blandness that happens too often...
- yeah, although the gulf between agreeing they aren't the target and the ability to act that way is enormous.airey

ah the classic, "i've just made you spend 3 months proving you were right the first time to get my monies worth"
