anyway, dont feel like debating 'commercial use' , you asked, its my opinion, many companies- as big as psyop, stardust etc etc use unlicensed music for their reels. Guess its an industry thing.
- soon as someone pays you for a product/video it becomes commercial********
- so its fine as long as i get no work eh?? kind of defeats the object!indian_pole
- no no no
god******** - nobody PAID you for your reel********

Yes you need permission, and you get it from these people: http://www.prsformusic.com
http://www.prsformusic.com/users…That's UK use only. You'll need to clear other territories with the other bodies in those countries.
Permission = paying, by the way. They don't just say 'yes'.
- But to be honest, they have bigger fish to fry. I would just use it anyway.********

You can catch a charge for this—it's illegal, hands down.
While you are not currently making a profit from its use, you are using the artist's intellectual property (music, in this case) to stake out future profits for yourself.
It is copyright infringement, but of course the chances of getting knocked off are marginal.
If you really want to use the artist's music, you could try reaching out to them and explaining your intents.

^ agreed, if you read my first reply Ckentish, you will see i said
" its not commercial use, put a small mention on it maybe...otherwise should be fine." emphasis on SHOULD
sure its copyright infringement but because its not profit usage and also because i presume idian_pole isnt warner bros, nobody is gonna give a shit.
