Already the semester's half over! Teaching to program data visuals in Processing.
http://itp.nyu.edu/VisualizingDa…So much to do, so little time. But ITP students are full of the awesome. Anyone else currently teaching Data Viz?

That looks like some pretty cool stuff! Is this your first semester teaching?

I wish there was something like this in Toronto, I'd take an intro course.
Stew, thought you were moving to Europe?
- Moving to London at the end of December. Nearly have the work visa in place.stewdio
- Nice! Thinking of moving over, myself. I'm lucky enough to have a UK Passport.Andrew_D

data viz : Processing and Java ?
- Douglas0

is my recent favorite.

@spraycan Yes, it's a Processing-based course. Students are free to use Java (usually via importing the Processing core into the Eclipse IDE) but all class examples and discussion revolve around vanilla Processing. In the future I'd very much like to teach in JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or Lisp; every language has its own manifesto. Here's more background on my course :

Who are some badass Data Viz people in NYC? I'd like to get a couple together for a talk next month.
- stewdio0
@Douglas What sort of talk? If it's about glossy, I don't do glossy. If it's about physically large data visualizations (about 8ft x 90ft!) with a thoughtfully terse aesthetic... I have something to say about that.
http://stewdio.org/work/terrenat…Terre Natale opened in Paris last November. Opening in Copenhagen this December 4th. (Anyone going to be in Copenhagen?)

I'm trying to involve AIGA/NY with more progressive mediums of communication and New Media topics, and I think Data Visualization can bring interest to a new tech audience that could benefit from strong design principles as well as get the traditional graphic design nerds excited to learn about something "new" ish. I've been talking to Aaron a bit since seeing his Radiohead video at a Google Sandbox event last spring and I think he is a good fit, but am also looking for others to expand out from there. I saw Zachary Lieberman give a good talk at SVA last week. Albeit not Data Viz, but still very good, and along that whole Ars Electronica line of work. You mentioned moving to London soon... I'm not exactly sure when I might pull something together. You have some great work though.
