I was reading that wiping your drive and installing fresh (considering the time it takes) is a waste of time and comes from the old skool OS9 way of thought
I have snow lep sitting on my desk but yet to install until these lil bugs are ironed out... weirdness in photoshop etc?
- Doing a cleaning install will always help.pillhead

cs3 not working is total crap, there is no reason why cs1 shouldn't work. That's terrible incompatibility, it's not like it's a completely new backend, sounds like forced obsolescence to me.

I've heard that it doesn't read certain types of fonts properly and that it messes up the metrics of some of the ones that it DOES read properly.
Just sayin'

"Is it going to get fixed?"
Nope, Adobe only update the latest version, and they barely do that anymore. For example loads of Fireworks bugs have been fixed but you'll have to wait for CS5, we're lucky they even fixed that font bug that rendered it utterly useless.- FWCS4 = steaming pile of shite. Which is gutting.blackspade

"just do the upgrade, this erase and install is over engineering a non-existent problem, or a mindset from that other OS."
"Back in the days of System 6, 7, 8, and 9, there sometimes were reasons to start “from scratch” but in those days it wasn’t such a big deal to reinstall applications. Apple has designed this thing to install as an upgrade"

isnt this just supposed to be HALF of a real system update? why not wait for a better though out, streamlined system in the future?
(truthfully, i dont know much about this - but it seems like people are having a lot of probs. with this system - what's got everyone switching to it like crazy)?- 64bitmonospaced
- AH! that makes sense then... thanks budidentity
- That's why it's called Snow Leopard instead of introducing a new cat.monospaced

I am not seeing any font issues running snow leopard with cs3.
I have a macbook 2.13 processor and 2 gigs of ram.
flash, dreamweaver, photoshop, and illustrator are running fine.

I found CS3 was very sluggish in Snow Leopard on my unibody Macbook pro 2.4ghz. Stuck CS4 on the other day and it's much quicker.
The font issue is primarily to do with with old postscript fonts I think. Something to do with SL not supporting old typefaces??? Not sure.
