My office is closed on Friday the 30th, because we are wrapping up a conference we have put on over this past weekend.

In my current position, I do front-end web design, as well as logo design, layout, some flash, a lot of presentations... our department does a lot. This is making me nervous that I might be spread a little too thin to be employable outside of my office. So I am hoping to take a day off and turn it into an opportunity.

I am looking to see if somebody would allow me to come in to their office and allow me to "shadow" them for a few hours. I am doing this for two purposes:

    1) I want to see how other people work. How they handle projects, their day to day, etc.

    2) I want to gague what I can bring to the job market if I were to throw my hat in the ring. Also, I would like to know where I am deficient as a designer and what I can do to make up for that.

What I am not going to do, however is be pushy about getting a job with your company. I just really want to meet some other people in my field and ask them questions about their job, day to day, etc.

If it is a small shop, or if you own it, that would be even better, as I am very interested in trying to start on my own. Especially how to deal with clients, drum up new business, etc.

So if you are in Minneapolis or St. Paul and wouldn't mind me peeking over your shoulder for awhile, send me an email, or post a message on this thread.

Or if this is a totally ridicoulous request and I shouldn't have bothered asking, let me know too.

sounds like you want to be a intern? sort of.

Not really an intern per se. I just really want to see what else is out there, and gague whether I should venture out and find that something or just stay in my current position.

Also, hopefully establish a relationship with a fellow professional.
