Odd question:
With rubber cement, do you have a limited amount of time to bond two sheets together once it's dry? I would think not, but I am looking to prep some paper that would be put together a day later.

i think it works for a while after... but a day, not sure

rubber cement is a "drying adhesive" with a life of about an hour. depending on what kind of adhesion you're looking for, a day is likely too long, don't expect it to stick a day later. it will bounce though. use blue-tack if just for sorting or arrangement. neither are meant for archival use as once they dry they lose adhesiveness and can damage the "glued" materials.

Are you referring to the open time? Typical adhesives have that printed directly on the bottle. With rubber cement I've always bonded with the adhesive still wet.

the solvents that make the adhesive work seep into the paper. anything that says DANGER isn't good for your paper, trust me, do some tests, and note i said archival. rubber cement is worth its weight in gold when i airbrush, great for textures, shapes, holding stencils etc. but chemicals stain anything porous, especially paper
- a cup of coffe from McDs has a disclosure on it; but i can't argue with your point.plash

Thanks guys for the info. This is for a very temporary project (retro baseball-style trading cards of team members and packaging, gum and all) for an interview we have coming up. I think I'll stick with rubber cement, just apply the cement only when I am good and ready to seal the packs.
