Speaking of things that aren't a rip. Someone emailed me last night from a masked address, and had apparently seen my work linked on design and design.com or some other place. They claimed the work shown there (and thus, the work on my website) wasn't designed by me, but by some other firm. Called it a rip-off. I can only assume they meant my former employer. This is funny because they somehow have seen my old employer's site as well as mine, but apparently did not know I used to work there, and/or didn't read the project descriptions on my site where everything is clearly credited, even down to the photographer and writer for each job.
I suspect this person either (a) works at my former studio or (b) is a friend/client/vendor of someone there, because that firm's work isn't very widely circulated online—they haven't updated their site in a long time. Otherwise, I'm not sure who else would notice or care.
Anyway, this person ended their email with "karma is a bitch, dude." If by karma they mean what goes around comes around, then they're absolutely right. Sending harrassing emails and threatening people with ill-informed claims (all while hiding behind a masked email address) will surely come back to bite them in the ass—one way or another.
I freaked out at first, but then remembered they're dead wrong and didn't even have the balls to reveal themselves. I slept soundly after that.

As one of the team members of Visuell Interactive, I thank you all for the "thumbs up" our site not being a rip-off. We are launching 2.0 soon, which does away with the Flash version. We created it in Flash Gaia Framework as a case study on the technology - but are going with the HTML Java to do all the transitional animation.
Thanks again.

The SidLee site has some serious kerning issues.

7point34:
if you familiarize yourself with Sidlee's work you may agree that their work is media heavy, showing their site in that kind of technology is justifiable in my opinion since almost everything they do is video, interactive displays, store design, spectacles, etc.
check out tourisme montreal, mgm or what they've been doing for adidas.

i think we're missing the core issue here, namely: why have these been done in flash instead of html and css

Not a rip. Second site does the nav better anyhow...first sites nav is annoying.
- MrT0
On the rip scale it's a small crease.
Another, finer example of that nav style.
http://www.seymourpowell.co.uk/- I wouldn't call it finer but it's nice indeed.zarkonite
