Logo/Branding question...

I have a new client (friend of a friend) - asked me to design her a logo, letterhead, business card etc.
Easy enough but she wants to call her business, which is Book keeping, something completely random that is the name of a flower and has nothing to do with book keeping...
My instinct is to design something that is based around the book keeping theme but my problem is the name. What would you guys do? Stick with the book keeping theme or work something around the name?
Just read that all back - doesn't make much sense but my brain is still in weekend mode so if you can advise, that would be great!

a flower growing out of a book?
a flower with pages as pedals?
a flower made of numbers?
a flower made of books?

Well it doesn't matter if the flower relates to bookkeeping or not - what's important to a consumer is a memorable brand experience.
If the flower name is memorable and captivates an audience, then it really doesn't matter if she keeps books, washes cars, or sells turds.
What is important however is that aesthetically and strategically, that the flower name, logo and stationery communicate what services and value her business brings to her customers.
Just some food for thought. Good luck!

Does "Target" say "Department Store." Does "Exxon" have anything to do with "Gasoline?"
The name doesn't have to mesh with the basic business. Try not to think so literally. Think metaphorically.

yeah, lol @ brand experience for a book keeper. keep it simple. if your mark looks good, is somewhat creative and memorable and is related to bookkeeping, power to you. if it doesn't relate to bookkeeping, but at least looks good and is somewhat creative and memorable, you're better than 90% of other bookkeepers out there, mission accomplished.

Honestly, naming a company after a flower is not a bad direction. Flowers have a lot of meaning, beyond being pretty, and can say a lot about a brand. I mean, shit, would you name a computer company Apple?
- Fair point. Well made.Stoph
- I was waiting when would Apple come upjimbojones
- Given the background of the company, and its original target market, yes I would.dMullins

So she's a bookie?

I think a flower isnt necessarily a bad idea.
"Treacle Mustard", however, is odd sounding.
