I sold a domain after getting an offer.. through the Network Solutions service, where they act as a broker and you don't know who is buying...
Sedo seems good. I've use SnapNames to acquire expiring domains.

Someone in my biz group sold one for high 6 figures. It was a corp sale through attorneys and escrow. Also know the guy who sold a domain name to Google through one of those services and got screwed because he didn't know who he was dealing with and didn't know how high they would've gone with their offer until after a few months and it went live.
