so i am doing this tonight from my little weekly happy hour. what do you guys think?

Get ready for your close-up, Miami. Now's your chance to speak to the world.

FromTheBox.org, a non-profit organization right out of the 305, announces the launch of its first initiative, a video message composed of interviews of Miami's citizens to be sent to the United Nations General Assembly via YouTube.

On September 22, 2009, United Nations General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon sent out a video message on YouTube. He invited anyone around the world to become a "Citizen Ambassador" and tell U.N. leaders what should be done to make the world a better and safer place. In just three minutes or less. Response has been swift, with posts from places as diverse as Jersey, Portugal, France, and other places. Most of the content so far has been limited in scale, execution, and content. Now it's Miami's turn.

From Ki-Moon's call (later reiterated by actor George Clooney), FromTheBox.org is taking a different approach. "It's an amazing opportunity," said Michael Landsberg, founder of FromTheBox.org. "The United Nations, one of the most powerful organizations in the world, wants to hear from us. So we're going to take them up on that, and tell them what we think. We just want people's honest, from-the-heart opinion." The idea is simple: What if an entire city could send its ideas to the world's leaders? What would we say? Thus FromTheBox.org: Miami's Message to the UN General Assembly.

What can Miami's citizens expect? Essentially a mobile video booth that allows users to step in and record a short, personal message. "We want it to feel natural, like a living room. Just take a seat, take a breath, and talk to the U.N. like you've got a friend over at your apartment."

The entire experience is geared to that end. In the vein of a photo booth, FromTheBox.org's mobile video booth, The Box, comes wired with lights, camera, and sound. Participants simply step in, sit down, and talk to the camera.
