I had a bit of an arguement with Kelpie a few weeks back (maybe that's why he's ignoring me on QBN actually) whether OLD Roxy was better or whether the second wave New Roxy was better.
He is such a hardcore OLD Roxy fan that he failed to even recognise Angel Eyes as being a Roxy track when I put it on.
Personally I like both eras equally for their own different reasons. I see them as two groups. I really love the polished later stuff and I think it was as seminal and groundbreaking as the old stuff was, its just that its hard to see that in retrospect.
Have at that then you tall Scotch cunt.
- different musicians innit? eno left after the first album right?7point34
- I agree with you about the 2 eras being like 2 different groups almostMal
- There were two albums before Eno slithered off I believe.********
- ah... but that was the major transition, replacing eno and redefining the band's sound7point34
- Not really, the 'new' sound came later in the decade when electronic instrumentation took off.********
- I DISAGREE!!!7point34

I have all the early ones and I don't think there's a bad track on any of them. I always thought the band was an odd fit for Brian Eno. The only later one I know is Avalon which is as good as anything they did. My wife actually prefers Ferry's solo stuff, which to me is like preferring Wings to the Beatles.
